Week 3 fantasy football matchup predictions - NFL2K10

Here are my week 3 matchup predictions.

Symbols vs. Roe
Yahoo projected score: Symbols 130.46, Roe 129.41
Prediction - Roe: Too many weapons - Fitzgerald, Jennings, Chris Johnson, Arian Foster. No way he has two consecutive bad weeks. Symbols is averaging less than 113 points per game, which won't get it done. He'll likely have to best that average by 20-25 to have any chance to win.

The Yellow Dart vs. First Down Syndrome
Yahoo projected score: TYD 140.95, FDS 135.27
Prediction - TYD: He's been a higher scoring team the first two weeks by nearly 20 points per game. He's the second highest scoring team in the league and his players have much better matchups. FDS's projection is too high.

Roe is a Jerk vs. McKinney Maulers
Yahoo projected score: McKinney Maulers 128.25, Roe is a Jerk 126.48
Prediction - McKinney: Aaron Rodgers will have a huge game against Chicago, but that's really the only safe bet for big-time production on Roe is a Jerk's squad. McKinney has Matt Schaub and Frank Gore and a bunch of others that are consistent contributors week after week.

Lost a bet with Mike vs. Hamski
Yahoo projected score: Lost a bet with Mike 133.03, Hamski 113.65
Prediction - Lost a bet with Mike: I liked DJ's team after the draft and although I didn't like it in either of the first two weeks, it came through last week with 138 points even though he left an injured Beanie Wells in his starting lineup. Hamski has four players who could have big weeks (Randy Moss, DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy and Tony Gonzalez), but after that I think points are going to be sparse.

redhypocycloid vs. Ribs-N-Whiskey
Yahoo projected score: redhypocycloid 129.13, Ribs-N-Whiskey 111.87
Prediction - redhypocycloid: Ribs-N-Whiskey put up 157 points last week, but 51 of it was from Jahvid Best. That probably won't happen again this week. He's also without Pierre Garcon and Ryan Mathews this week, so it's a bit of a make-shift lineup. I like redhypocycloid behind Brady and Welker (vs. Buffalo) and Adrian Peterson (vs. Detroit), but keep in mind redhypocycloid loses in crazy ways. He lost in week 2 by .38 when Marques Colston caught a 30-yard pass with 18 seconds left. He better blow out Ribs-N-Whiskey, because if it's close going into Monday night, history says the Green Bay defense will get enough points for Ribs-N-Whiskey to hand redhypocycloid another excruciating loss.

Prediction: Roe

Roe is a Jerk vs. Hamski
Yahoo projected score: Jerk store 128.32, Hamski 116.4
Prediction: Jerk store

Yahoo projected score: Terps 129.23, Mike's door mat 124.8
Prediction: Terps

Saints-Vikings tonight!

The season is finally here and what a great game to start things off. I can't see Minnesota winning this one on the road against the defending champs. I like Favre and the Vikings and I think they're being sold a bit short in preseason predictions, especially compared to two teams they dominated last year (Packers and Cowboys), but this one has New Orleans victory written all over it. I expect the Saints will be ready to go and very sharp offensively. What's everyone think? Who will win? What will be the score? Who will have the bigger game - Favre or Brees?

VINCENT JACKSON LATEST

This has all the makings of a deal for the skins. Shanahan tried to get Jackson while in Denver. They have the money to sign to a longer term deal than say the Rams and with a #1 still next season to address the running back position this could be a long term offensive solution to go with the commitment they'll make to McNabb:

Just trade Jackson - SignOnSanDiego.com

Week 1 fantasy football matchup analysis - NFL2K10 - Part 3

The highly anticipated part 3 of the week 1 analysis is below. The defending champ, two other former champions and a newcomer to the league are included. We’re two days away from the Vikings-Saints tilt, an integral game for the first of the two matchups we'll review in this segment.

MS vs. JL

MS’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Brett Favre, Min (@NO)

RB – Ray Rice, Bal (@NYJ), Cedric Benson, Cin (@NE)

WR – Roddy White, Atl (@Pit), Lee Evans, Buf (Mia), Greg Camarillo, Min (@NO)

TE – Jermichael Finley, GB (@Phi)

Flex – Carnell Williams, Tam (Cle)

K – Sebastian Janikowski, Oak (@Ten)

Def – New York Giants (Car)

JL’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Drew Brees, NO (Min)

RB – Joseph Addai, Ind (@Hou), Marion Barber, Dal (@Wash)

WR – Reggie Wayne, Ind (@Hou), Donald Driver, GB (@Phi), Austin Collie, Ind (@Hou)

TE – Dallas Clark, Ind (@Hou)

Flex – Chris Chambers, KC (SD)

K – Jeff Reed, Pit (Atl)

Def – New York Jets (Bal)

*opponents in parentheses

Analysis:

The marquee matchup here is at QB, where Favre and Brees will square off Thursday in a rematch of January’s NFC championship game. Slight advantage to JL with Brees. Favre will be working without his top receiver, Sidney Rice, and Chester Taylor (now with Chicago), who was a very good situational back and caught 44 passes in 2009. As good as Favre is, these are two valuable offensive pieces he won’t be able to utilize. We won’t know the full impact until the games start, but I can’t imagine Minnesota’s passing game will be quite as sharp as it was last season. At running back, advantage MS. Rice is a stud. Look for him to contribute significantly even against the Jets’ stout defense. Benson should be solid, too. JL’s running backs are both potential busts. They have no upside and though they play on very good offenses, neither are top three go-to options on their respective teams. WR, advantage JL. Wayne, Driver and Collie is a better trio than White, Evans and Camarillo or anyone else MS can bring off the bench. Push at tight end. Finley should be awesome this season. I like him against the Eagles. Clark had two big games against the Texans in 2009. He is the most likely of the Colts’ offensive players to have a big game this weekend, speaking of which.... JL has four players from the Colts and although Peyton Manning can spread the wealth, putting this many fantasy eggs in one basket is a tricky proposition. All things considered, this is a close one to call. MS could have a big advantage at RB. Because of that and also because I’m not convinced all of JL’s Colts will produce this week, I have to go with Favre and Co. Pick: MS

Glacc vs. KF

Glacc’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Peyton Manning, Ind (@Hou)

RB – Steven Jackson, StL (Ari), Reggie Bush, NO (Min)

WR – Marques Colston, NO (Min), Percy Harvin, Min (@NO), Dez Bryant, Dal (@Wash)

TE – Brent Celek, Phi (GB)

Flex – Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG (Car)

K – David Akers, Phi (GB)

Def – Dallas (@Wash)

KF’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Eli Manning, NYG (Car)

RB – Ryan Mathews, SD (@KC), Rashard Mendenhall, Pit (Atl)

WR – Steve Smith, Car (@NYG), Mike Sims-Walker, Jac (Den), Pierre Garcon, Ind (@Hou)

TE – Kellen Winslow, Tam (Cle)

Flex – Jahvid Best, Det (@Chi)

K – Garrett Hartley, NO (Min)

Def – Green Bay (@Phi)

*opponents in parentheses

Analysis:

I enter this season having won in 2009 and I like my team. I just don’t love it, at least not yet. It’s deep and a repeat is not out of the question, but there are definitely some things that remain to be seen. Peyton Manning, Jackson, Colston, Harvin and Celek should be a strong foundation. I’m hopeful that Bush, Bryant and Bradshaw will all contribute in week 1, but each is far from a certainty. Bush is starting because I’m leery about using Knowshon Moreno, who’s been dealing with a hamstring injury. I’m leaning toward starting Bryant as my WR3, but something tells me I should go with one of the two Mike Williams instead. Bryant will be good. Will he be good in week 1? I don’t know, but I think he’ll take a few weeks to get into a rhythm and to the point where he can be counted on for solid production week in, week out. The same can probably be said about each Mike Williams, which is a dilemma that I’ll have to sort out by this weekend. KF is one of two new-comers to the league and he has a good team. Eli Manning is not an elite fantasy QB like his brother, but you could do a lot worse. He’s a Super Bowl winning QB in the prime of his career on a well-coached team with weapons at wide receiver. Not bad. In a year when RB depth seems to be at an all-time low, KF has three who could end up being in the top dozen in fantasy scoring at their positions. However, two of them, Mathews and Best, are rookies so expectations should remain realistic. Isaac Redman was named the Steelers’ short-yardage back, which hurts Mendenhall’s value a little, but I just don’t see it having a major impact on his overall production. Steve Smith (Carolina), Sims-Walker and Garcon might be the most underrated wide receiver trio in our league. Kellen Winslow is capable of being in the top handful of tight ends every week. It’s hard to find a weakness on this team. I won’t predict the winner of this one since it’s my matchup, but I welcome everyone else’s feedback.

Week 1 fantasy football matchup analysis - NFL2K10 - Part 2

Here we go with part 2 of the week 1 analysis, which features a matchup between a former champ and my preseason pick to win this year's title.

Roe vs. RG

Roe’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Jay Cutler, Chi (Det)

RB – Chris Johnson, Ten (Oak), Arian Foster, Hou (Ind)

WR – Larry Fitzgerald, Ari (@StL), Greg Jennings, GB (@Phi), Michael Crabtree, SF (@Sea)

TE – Zach Miller, Oak (@Ten)

Flex – Johnny Knox, Chi (Det)

K – Ryan Longwell, Min (@NO)

Def – Tennessee (Oak)

RG’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Joe Flacco, Bal (@NYJ)

RB – Shonn Green, NYJ (Bal), LeSean McCoy, Phi (GB)

WR – Randy Moss, NE (Cin), DeSean Jackson, Phi (GB), Jeremy Maclin, Phi (GB)

TE – Tony Gonzalez, Atl (@Pit)

Flex – Derek Mason, Bal (@NYJ)

K – Stephen Gostkowski, NE (Cin)

Def – Baltimore (@NYJ)

*opponents in parentheses

Analysis:

RG, the 2008 champion and 2009 finalist, has another good lineup. I normally don’t like having three players from one NFL team on a starting fantasy roster, as he has with the Eagles’ McCoy, Jackson and Maclin, but this should work for much of the season assuming Kevin Kolb is even half way effective. Flacco won’t become an elite QB this year, and may never reach that status, but he will likely enter the next tier as the season progresses. RG faces two major obstacles in week 1. One, he has three offensive players starting from the Jets-Ravens matchup, which promises to be a defensive battle even if Darrelle Revis and Ed Reed don’t suit up (Reed’s not expected to. Who knows about Revis?). Two, he’s facing easily the best team in NFL2K10, at least on paper. Roe is loaded and he has favorable matchups in week 1. He may have the best RB and WR combo in the league - all five could end up in the top five at their positions by the end of the season. He’ll put up a big number and RG will have trouble keeping pace. If the Eagles don’t show up, this one could get ugly. Pick: Roe

SS vs. DB

SS’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Tony Romo, Dal (@Wash)

RB – Michael Turner, Atl (@Pit), Jonathan Stewart, Car (@NYG)

WR – Miles Austin, Dal (@Wash), Dwayne Bowe, KC (SD), Jacoby Jones, Hou (Ind)

TE – Greg Olsen, Chi (Det)

Flex – Matt Forte, Chi (Det)

K – Lawrence Tynes, NYG (Car)

Def – Miami (@Buf)

DB’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Matt Schaub, Hou (Ind)

RB – Frank Gore, SF (@Sea), Ricky Williams, Mia (@Buf)

WR – Steve Smith, NYG (Car), Chad Ochocinco, Cin (@NE), Nate Burleson, Det (@Chi)

TE – Vernon Davis, SF (@Sea)

Flex – Tim Hightower, Ari (@StL)

K – Nate Kaeding, SD (@KC)

Def – New Orleans (Min)

*opponents in parentheses

Analysis:

This is a tough one to call. SS has a typical boom or bust team. I was leaning a little more toward boom a week ago after the draft, but I’m just not sure right now. Dallas is a bit overrated and hasn’t looked good offensively in the preseason. The Cowboys may beat the Redskins, but there’s little chance they’re going to light it up offensively on the road against a tough defense and in Mike Shanahan’s first game as the Skins’ coach. For that reason I really don’t like Romo and Austin this week. Michael Turner vs. the Steelers? Not so sure about that one either. DB has a solid team with less upside than some, but less risk and downside, as well. Schaub should be effective this week. I really like Gore and Davis against Seattle and Hightower’s value got a slight boost yesterday when Beanie Wells aggravated his knee. It’s not supposed to be serious, but any knee injury is significant when you’re dealing with a running back. Even if Wells is deemed healthy and ready to go, I can’t imagine the Cardinals won’t utilize Hightower for at least a handful more snaps than they would have prior to the injury. Pick: DB

Week 1 fantasy football matchup analysis - NFL2K10 - Part 1

With the NFL season quickly approaching and the creation of The M Section blog, I wanted to take the opportunity to put my fantasy football reputation on the line and offer week 1 picks and analysis in our 12-team league. This is a PPR league in which we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K and 1 team defense.

DJ vs. ML

DJ’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Kevin Kolb, Phi (GB)

RB – DeAngelo Williams, Car (@NYG), Beanie Wells, Ari (@STL)

WR – Andre Johnson, Hou (Ind), Hakeem Nicks, NYG (Car), Malcolm Floyd, SD (@KC)

TE – Antonio Gates, SD (@KC)

Flex – Thomas Jones, KC (SD)

K – Matt Prater, Den (@Jac)

Def – Philadelphia (GB)

ML’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Tom Brady, NE (Cin)

RB – Adrian Peterson, Min (@NO), Ryan Grant, GB (@Phi)

WR – Wes Welker, NE (Cin), Hines Ward, Pit (Atl), Terrell Owens, Cin (@NE)

TE – Heath Miller, Pit (Atl)

Flex – LaDainian Tomlinson, NYJ (Bal)

K – Adam Vinatieri, Ind (@Hou)

Def – Pittsburgh (Atl)

*opponents in parentheses

Analysis:

ML’s return to the league after a 2-year absence should begin with a victory. Both teams have weapons and both have questions marks. There are just too many question marks on DJ’s roster – How will Kolb perform in his first game as the no. 1 QB in Philadelphia? How will the QB situation in Arizona, the loss of Nehemia Broughton and Tim Hightower’s touches and effectiveness in the passing game affect Beanie Wells’ output? Will Thomas Jones put up fantasy-relevant numbers behind Jamaal Charles? Will Hakeem Nicks ascend to the next level? Can Malcolm Floyd produce like a true no. 1 WR in San Diego? The roster has potential, but to expect most of these things to work out in DJ’s favor right away and result in a week 1 win against a team with Tom Brady, Adrian Peterson, Ryan Grant, Wes Welker and Hines Ward would be optimistic at best. Pick: ML

WC vs. TS

WC’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Aaron Rodgers, GB (@Phi)

RB – Jamaal Charles, KC (SD), Felix Jones, Dal (@Wash)

WR – Calvin Johnson, Det (@Chi), Anquan Boldin, Bal (@NYJ), Devin Aromashodu, Chi (Det)

TE – Jason Witten, Dal (@Wash)

Flex – Darrius Heyward-Bey, Oak (@Ten)

K – Rob Bironas, Ten (Oak)

Def – Minnesota (@NO)

TS’s projected starting lineup*:

QB – Phillip Rivers, SD (@KC)

RB – Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac (Den), Pierre Thomas, NO (Minn)

WR – Brandon Marshall, Mia (@Buf), Santana Moss, Wash (Dal), TJ Houshmandzadeh, Sea (SF)

TE – John Carlson, Sea (SF)

Flex – Ronnie Brown, Mia (@Buf)

K – Mason Crosby, GB (@Phi)

Def – San Francisco (@Sea)

*opponents in parentheses

Analysis:

Heyward-Bey on a starting fantasy roster is questionable, I don’t like any defense that’s facing the Saints and I’m not sold on Jones. He’s an injury risk and his touches will continue to be somewhat limited in the Cowboys’ crowded and talented backfield. That said, he's still a dynamic talent. Rodgers and Johnson should be automatic for big numbers. Witten and Charles are at least reasonably safe bets to put up decent totals, as well. Conversely, there are no week 1 automatics on TS’s team. As talented as the trio of Rivers, Jones-Drew and Marshall is, it’s difficult to confidently say any of them will have a huge game. Jones-Drew has been dealing with a knee injury, Rivers won’t have Vincent Jackson and Marshall is on a new team – decent numbers can be expected, but numbers on par with their yearly averages this early in the season probably can’t. Thomas and Brown could change the face of this matchup if they have solid games, but I don’t think they’ll have enough. Santana Moss has played well against the Cowboys in the past, but the Redskins offense isn't exactly clicking on all cylinders heading into its opening game. Moss could be limited. Seattle's Houshmandzadeh and Carlson could struggle this week, if not beyond. Pick: WC

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

So here we go. Glacc and I created this thing as an extension of the discussions we have on and off the message boards for our leagues. I've been talking to Glacc and others of you about the draft for our football league so I thought a good first post would be a draft analysis. Let's see how this goes:

Round 1
1. Chris Johnson Death Roe
2. Adrian Peterson redhypocycloid
3. Maurice Jones-Drew Low Country Terps
4. Ray Rice bluehypocycloid
5. Frank Gore McKinney Maulers
6. Michael Turner First Down Sydrome
7. Andre Johnson Anchor Babies
8. Drew Brees TheYellowDart
9. Ryan Mathews Ribs-N-Whiskey
10. Steven Jackson G9s
11. Aaron Rodgers Chris Roe is Great
12. Shonn Greene Hamski

The first five picks here seem to be the consensus. My strategy this season was basically this: Try and grab a top tier running back in round 1 and then go WR WR WR for the next 3 and then at round 5 start loading up on RB's. Simple enough. My theory was the RB's get shallow fast so this season it will be important to get some top tier wide receivers (2 if i could) and gamble that I could find value in the middle rounds at RB while waiting on a QB and a loaded class of tight ends.

Once i got the first pick I knew I was getting CJ or AP and then I had to figure out what WR's I thought I wanted at the turn. As for the round itself my only real questions are Turner over Andre Johnson (in a PPR league Andre Johnson could be more valuable than all but the top 5 RB's), Ryan Mathews (he was ranked right in there though) and Shonne Green (good O-line but bad offense). You could argue that Randy Moss is a better pick than either of those guys and Moss is ranked as the top receiver in some circles; which leads us to...

Round 2
1. Randy Moss Hamski
2. Calvin Johnson Chris Roe is Great
3. Peyton Manning G9s
4. Rashard Mendenhall Ribs-N-Whiskey
5. Reggie Wayne TheYellowDart
6. DeAngelo Williams Anchor Babies
7. Miles Austin First Down Syndrome
8. Matt Schaub McKinney Maulers
9. Roddy White bluehypocycloid
10. Brandon Marshall Low Country Terps
11. Ryan Grant redhypocycloid
12. Larry Fitzgerald Death Roe

So there goes Moss. Guess it doesn't matter what order your picks come off the board if you're picking 12 or 13. Moss in my opinion slipped to 12 but again so far the top ranked players are coming off the board generally where they should. Dave was in a tough position here. If he waited another round all the 2 tier RB's were probably going to be gone (and they were). There's an argument to be made that Ced Benson is a better reach here. DeAngelo Williams can go off week to week but so can The Daily Show. My queue in this round looked like this (In the order i wanted them): Roddy White, Greg Jennings, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith (Car). Even though there were some very good RB 2's available still I was sticking to my strategy hoping I could load up on potential RB's later and was specifically targeting Fred Jackson (slipping because of his injury - Who i got), Donald Brown, Arian Foster (I was praying no one would reach for him before 5 - got him too) Forte in round 5 or later (Scott got him 5 places before me in round 6) and Bradshaw really late. Seeing White go didn't surprise since that's song's boy. My main target as a WR1 this season was Jennings (had a good year in 2009 but only had 4 touchdowns on a very good offense) and whoever else slipped. It happened that the QB situation in Ariz scared people away from Fitzgerald and I was happy to take him at 23.

(Side note about Fitzgerald: Since when does a WR need a top notch QB to be a productive fantasy wifeout? Megatron has been picked in the top 15 or so every season with an unproven QB since he got into the league. Andre Johnson still put numbers up while Rosenfels was in and Shaub was out. I think the standard is different for Fitz because he had a very good QB last season and now he's getting a crappy one. I think when there's elite talent you can ignore, to some degree, the mitigating factors. You don't take him as a top 5 receiver but you don't pass him up at 23 either. I also don't believe that Boldin's departure will have an affect on his numbers all that much. Teams have been rolling safeties over with or without Boldin in the lineup. If anything he'll get more red zone looks. He's not catching 97 balls again but I'm betting he's a top 7 fantasy wideout)

1.

Greg Jennings

Death Roe
2. Tom Brady redhypocycloid
3. Pierre Thomas Low Country Terps
4. Cedric Benson bluehypocycloid
5. Steve Smith McKinney Maulers
6. Tony Romo First Down Syndrome
7. Beanie Wells Anchor Babies
8. Dallas Clark TheYellowDart
9. Jahvid Best Ribs-N-Whiskey
10. Marques Colston G9s
11. Jamaal Charles Chris Roe is Great
12. DeSean Jackson Hamski

This round we start to see strategies falling apart. Todd's autodraft of Thomas with Benson and Charles on the board stands out. Steve Smith of the Giants going before the Carolina version is a bit of a shock and I believe will be proven a mistake. Dallas Clark should definitely be the first TE of the board but round three for a loaded position seems like a stretch (as does the head-scratcher of taking a defense in round 4).

Steal of the round: Jamaal Charles, I'm not scared by T. Jones at all. If anything it'll help insure that Charles will be healthy come fantasy playoff time.

Reach of the round: No matter how good Dallas Clark is the TE's psotion is loaded this year and there are values to be had in the later rounds.

Round 4
1. LeSean McCoy Hamski
2. Anquan Boldin Chris Roe is Great
3. Percy Harvin G9s
4. Steve Smith Ribs-N-Whiskey
5. New York TheYellowDart
6. Antonio Gates Anchor Babies
7. Jonathan Stewart First Down Syndrome
8. Chad Ochocinco McKinney Maulers
9. Brett Favre bluehypocycloid
10. Ronnie Brown Low Country Terps
11. Wes Welker redhypocycloid
12. Michael Crabtree Death Roe

Randy's eagle onslaught continues at the top of this one. Mark broke my heart with his Welker pick as I was all ready to take Welker / Crabtree here but in the end my strategy should have been what ended up happening. Foster in round 5 is right at his ADP. So thanks Laird. I would have sunk myself with no clear RB2. There ended being so much value in WR's later it would have been a huge mistake for me to take 4 WR's in a row and pass up a clear cut #1 RB in a top of the league offense.

Steal of the Round: Steve Smith, Carolina version. He's a WR1 this season with a better QB. He'll probably have twice the points that the other one has.

Reach of the round: A DEFENSE!? One without its best player no less. All the general research on Defenses and Kickers say that the difference between good ones and average ones (which you can always get given that there's 32 teams and we only field 12 each week with no one carrying more than one) is negligible over a full season. I hate to eat into my competitive advantage but there you have it. I'm never taking a DEF or Kicker before the last rounds.

1. Arian Foster Death Roe
2. Hines Ward redhypocycloid
3. Philip Rivers Low Country Terps
4. Jermichael Finley bluehypocycloid
5. Vernon Davis McKinney Maulers
6. Dwayne Bowe First Down Syndrome
7. Hakeem Nicks Anchor Babies
8. Joseph Addai TheYellowDart
9. Mike Sims-Walker Ribs-N-Whiskey
10. Knowshon Moreno G9s
11. Felix Jones Chris Roe is Great
12. Jeremy Maclin Hamski

So i snagged Foster here. It was very close between Forte (who I think rebounds) and Foster. But I went with the better offense. Song got his man in Finley. Not too big a reach for a TE that projects as the #2 at his position but way too much for a guy who'll miss half the season with injury.

Steal of the Round: Arian Foster, he's a top 5 back.
Reach of the Round: Jermichael Finley, the hype cost Mike a chance at a legit WR2 (now he's being forced to start Wallace as a 2 and Evans?! as a 3

Round 6
1. Tony Gonzalez Hamski
2. Jason Witten Chris Roe is Great
3. Brent Celek G9s
4. Pierre Garcon Ribs-N-Whiskey
5. Donald Driver TheYellowDart
6. Malcom Floyd Anchor Babies
7. Matt Forte First Down Syndrome
8. Ricky Williams McKinney Maulers
9. Mike Wallace bluehypocycloid
10. Santana Moss Low Country Terps
11. Terrell Owens redhypocycloid
12. Johnny Knox Death Roe

The run on TE happens in this round. I had my sights set on Zach Miller so I wasn't worried. This is where I wanted to get a QB and TE but none of the TE's I was targeting were gone so i went with my favorite break out receiver in Johny Knox. He seems to have the best chemistry with Cutler and Martz will always find a way to get the ball in the hands of his most talented players (Knox and Forte). Also, the bears open against the league's worst defense.

Steal of the Round: I love Forte here. I would have taken him if Scott hadn't. The new offense could hurt him early but he should be back to form from 2 years ago.

Reach of the Round: Mike Wallace, the only reason I can see taking him this early is that we have steelers fans that would reach to get him. Wallace is a popular sleeper and might produce once they get a QB who can go down field but he's not going to sneak up on anyone this season. He has bust written all over him.

1. Jay Cutler Death Roe
2. Pittsburgh redhypocycloid
3. T.J. Houshmandzadeh Low Country Terps
4. Clinton Portis bluehypocycloid
5. New Orleans McKinney Maulers
6. C.J. Spiller First Down Syndrome
7. Kevin Kolb Anchor Babies
8. Marion Barber TheYellowDart
9. Eli Manning Ribs-N-Whiskey
10. Ahmad Bradshaw G9s
11. Devin Aromashodu Chris Roe is Great
12. Joe Flacco Hamski

I ended up taking the best QB on the board here despite my misgivings about him. He's not going to be fun to own but his ceiling seems to be higher than Eli or Flacco. I never once thought about taking Kolb as I want to root for him to fail all year.

Reach(es) of the round: Any Defense and Clinton Portis (nuff said)

Steal of the Round:Ahmad Bradshaw, clearly the more talented back with less of an injury risk than jacobs. He's a solid RB2/3

Rounds 8-15

Some highlights: Everyone I picked and Carnell Williams in round 10. No one likes to draft Cadillac but he's a clear #1 on a team that going to run a lot.
Ben ROEthlesberger. Could easily end up the steal of the draft.
Some lowlights: Mark Snachez? Granted he hasn't looked any better than Cutler I think the jets are going to have a hard time winning 8 game with this clown as their QB. You could also argue against drafting a backup QB at all given that there will always be good backups available week to week. Golden tate a #5 receiver on Seattle. Sweet.

Good luck this season everyone (Especially you Randy in Week 1 when the hammer comes down on your season from the jump.)
